Is there a way to make drop-down boxes whose text options are predicated on the drop-down boxes above them?

Hello r/MSAccess, sorry if that title didn’t make much sense.

Long story short, I’m making an Access database for work and I want it to be able to use drop-down boxes because some of my employees can’t spell for their lives and it makes filtering queries harder than it needs to be. For the purposes of this post, let’s say I’m making a database of gamers and one of the things I want the database to handle is their favorite game.

Carmelo Anthony, Please Retire

After many infuriating losses caused and endured by our Portland Trail Blazers, I have decide to voice my frustration. And, in the fashion of a true Portlander, I have decided to target the player that is a true representation of the NBA establishment: Carmelo Anthony.

First of all, my position as a bottom tier basketball player in my day and a bottom tier basketball viewer (I can’t name half the teams in the NBA) does in no way qualify me to criticize … Read More

Date Formats

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

I have several fields that are identified as “dates”. While the little calendar picker does show up on the form I created, it also lets you type in the field. Unfortuantely, some users will use “-” and some will use “/” and others use various date formats “09Jan2019”.

Access seems pretty good about dis-allowing anything with words, but it seems to be accepting either the “-” or “/” as acceptable formats. Unfortunately when I run reports to print, this is an eyesore. Anyway to

Control Unbound

Hello,So in my new job I have adopted this horrendous MS Database, my issue at the moment is I am trying to add a new Yes/No field onto a form.

  • I have created the new field in the back end, on the server.
  • In design view, included the new field in the query.
  • Dragged the new field from the control list to the form.
  • At run time, the form/query drops the field and shows that it is now unbound.

I have:

  • Run compact and

ComboBox with Multiple Fields error

I want to make a dashboard type menu Form that has buttons to take you to various forms, queries or reports for specific records.

I thought I would start by creating a combo box with a records ID and Name fields (two separate fields) since users may know one or the other or neither and want to browse.

But whenever I do this I get an error:

“The value you entered isn’t valid for this field. For example, you may have entered text in

Hi,

Hoping I can get some help here. I have an access Reports that pulls names. The query behind the report is pulling all the names. When I run the report, one guy is missing. Its only him and it’s him always. He is in the query. He is in all tables and querys before that.

One thing I did notice is when viewing the results of the query, if I scroll I can get to his name but if I use the filtering

Unless you’ve been living in a remote cave without access to news (in which case I weep tears of bitter jealousy for your life), you’ve heard of the many reported health and performance benefits of a magical elixir known as “Bulletproof Coffee” AKA Butter Coffee. (It sounds better in Spanish: “Antibalas Cafe.”)

It’s made with hot coffee, MCT coconut oil (MCT stands for medium chain triglycerides or medium chain fatty acids, a healthier form … Read More
