Limit records by specifying fields in query?

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

I have 4 modules that I need to execute VBA in which loads records from a table and the loads various html files to match data and add data to the records. Each module is focused on particular fields in the database. Currently I’m selecting all fields from the table where two particular fields are Null.

So for example my statement is like this:

SELECT * FROM tblAssets WHERE assetType Is Null AND assetColor is Null

But couldn’t I just say:

SELECT assetType, assetColor, assetLocation FROM tblAssets WHERE assetType is Null

This should allow me to add data to those fields since it’s selecting them, and only the records for those fields where assetType is blank will show?
