An overweight man gets on, huffing and puffing. His mask is like how geniuses do it. Like it shows you pretend to care but also so off the cuff that you forget to use it for its purpose. Like to wear your mask around your neck, nose and mouth exposed. I don’t know if this is pandemic talking or I’d normally feel anxiety? Of course, dudes gotta sit close to me. I keep thinking, huffing and puffing. Some liquid is leaking out … Read More

The Best Things to Do in Portland This Fourth of July Weekend: July 3-5

by Mercury EverOut Staff

A brief history lesson worth repeating every year: July 4 commemorates the Declaration of Independence, which freed the 13 American colonies from British rule in 1776, but which brought no relief to the millions of African Americans who would remain enslaved in the US for another hundred years, nor to the Indigenous tribes whose land was stolen by colonizers in 1492. This Fourth of July, while you’re enjoying the extended weekend however you feel, please also make a point of … Read More

Laundry PSA

In my life of co-living and Laundromats, I have shared many laundry spaces. Today I waited a little longer than usual to grab my dry goods. “No big deal” in my mind, and assume my faux pas means less due to everyone not working or being retired largely in this zone. Maybe a half hour late and I walk in to see a topless man folding my laundry – folding it, bare hands, laundry, topless. He proceeds to ask me my name … Read More

At the direction of Mayor Jenny Durkan, “hundreds” of cops cleared the Capitol Hill Organized Protest area (AKA “CHOP”) starting around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Question about improving database speed on a university VPN

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

For context, I’ve been working as a student assistant for a large University contacts database for the past few months. My job involves surveying the information for mistakes and pulling up records/lists to update them. I’ve taken a class or two on using Access, but besides that I don’t have a lot of technical experience with it.

My boss (who has about the same amount of technical knowledge as me) and coworkers are all experiencing very slow speeds, which is affecting how much

MSAccess Database Over Server Is Slow.

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

I’m running a web server using ODBC from a local computer at my company. It has an ODBC connection that I use to connect to the data base using PHP. When accessing the local data (MS Access Data Base) on the server for testing the response is instant and with little to no run time. When contacting the data on the server and getting the tables to show job info it takes much longer. I know it should take longer over server but its

Unable to append tables in MS Access

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

I have accounting data saved as excel files separately by month (Jan, Feb, March) in my PC as the number of transactions exceed excel’s row number limitation if months combined. I would like to append these tables/ months together within access via below SQL code, however it fails with “Cannot open database “”. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt. I suspect the error is due to 2GB file size limitation as my accdb is
