The Case for a Fareless TriMet

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

by Blair Stenvick

Until recently, Tristan Isaac considered a bus ride an extravagance.

Since moving to Portland four years ago without a car, Isaac has found the cost of regular adult TriMet fare—$2.50 for a two-and-a-half-hour pass, $5 for a day pass, or $100 for a monthly pass—too expensive to be a daily option.

“If I had to go somewhere on budget, I’d use my bike, but if I were going somewhere special, I’d take the bus,” Isaac says. “Because $5 a day … Read More

My Access is in Dutch and I don’t know all the names, but I’ll try.

I’m making a form where I want a field to calculate the total amount of websites devided by the amount of weeks.

I have a list with a single value in it which is a SELECT COUNT(*) query. Not sure if the thing is called “list”, but it’s the one to the right of the Combo Box icon.

The other field I have is a text box with a

Savage Love: Why Not Me?

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

by Dan Savage

My issue is this: Two years into our 23-year marriage, my wife declared that she didn’t want to kiss me or perform oral on me. Several years ago, she had an affair and confessed that she not only kissed this other person but performed oral on them as well. Why them and not me? Should I just go find someone willing to do what I want? I have a high sex drive, but I find that I don’t want to sleep Read More

Matt Sheehy’s Aberdeen gets points for originality, but loses points for lack of empathy.

by Robert Ham

In his new one-man show, Matt Sheehy—the singer/songwriter who leads the indie rock project Lost Lander—spares his audience many of the clichéd moves we’ve come to expect from that medium. And Aberdeen certainly could have tumbled down that path.

The 80-minute performance, which Sheehy is staging at Disjecta, is inspired by a recent, fraught period in Sheehy’s life: He was processing the death of his mother … Read More

Aladdin
Disney’s live-action remake of 1992’s Aladdin is a loud, obnoxious concoction of demographic targeting, corporation-backed nostalgia pandering, and ugly CGI. It has all the urgency of a (very expensive) piece of community theater and all the artistry of a quarterly earnings report. Yet this ungainly, garish thing is not as detestable as these ingredients would lead you to believe. Mind you, it’s not good—lord, it is not that—but this Aladdin is like a messy, smelly dog that belongs … Read More

Limit records by specifying fields in query?

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

I have 4 modules that I need to execute VBA in which loads records from a table and the loads various html files to match data and add data to the records. Each module is focused on particular fields in the database. Currently I’m selecting all fields from the table where two particular fields are Null.

So for example my statement is like this:

SELECT * FROM tblAssets WHERE assetType Is Null AND assetColor is Null

But couldn’t I just say:

SELECT assetType, assetColor,

f you’ve met her, it’s immediately apparent that Chef Maya Lovelace cares so damn much about the Southern food she makes: a tribute to her grandmother, to hot summers in North Carolina, and to telling a story through a simple benne seed.

(Full disclosure: While Lovelace and I have formed a food-based friendship, as always my allegiance lies with my readers, and I applied the same lens to reviewing Yonder as any other restaurant.)

Lovelace catapulted into Portland’s consciousness in … Read More
