Attack of the Clean People

Long time Portlanders LOVE to complain about new Portlanders. I try not to say anything as the city grows, transforms, and becomes, well, unrecognizable. My parent’s taught me to share. BUUUUT… what’s with you CLEAN PEOPLE? I used to be able to spot new transplants cuz they were just weirdly clean. Now, everywhere I go, I’m surrounded. You can’t all be tidy transplants. Has your overwhelming presence made old school Portlanders so self conscience, that they’ve up, and joined you? Do you … Read More

If I delete a field, will my queries have errors?

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

I assume this will happen. I don’t require the salutation field of my data. But I have a few queries that include that field. Bah! I’m also just seeing something about “object dependencies.” Is there a way to view object dependencies after deleting the object?

Save Error when subform gains focus?

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

Here is the error message my database gets when I try to save data:

>The Macro or function set to the BeforeUpdate or ValidationRule property for this field is preventing [My File] from saving the data in the field

This error ONLY occurs if the save is initiated by switching from the current form to the subform. Going to the next record without clicking on the subform saves without error, as does the save button. Now, the form saves the data despite this

The turnaround time for converting news into filmed entertainment is short, and getting shorter. Maybe too short—sometimes it feels like the rush to fictionalize recent history has resulted in films and TV shows that aren’t fully realized. Maybe we could benefit from a little distance from the subject.

That’s the failing of The Loudest Voice. The Showtime limited series—developed from Gabriel Sherman’s book The Loudest Voice in the Room by Sherman and Spotlight screenwriter Tom McCarthy—attempts … Read More

Form Filter On Load

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

I’m trying to find a way to always filter a few select items On Load, there are certain things I don’t need seen on the form.

I have an Asset Tracking/Employee database, I assign assets to an employee via Employee ID and on the Employee Details page I can see Assets assigned per employee. If the employee leaves the company I have that automatically filtered out.

One thing with my assets is that they are not all assigned to employees as some of the
