The Mercury‘s I, Anonymous Blog is a great place for your personal manifesto… especially if your manifesto might not be a top priority for other people. For example, check out this I, Anonymous Manifesto™ appropriately titled….

Why the Fuck Do We Bathe Every Morning?

Why? Why as a culture do we bathe in the morning? Let’s be real: We’re out doing nasty shit ALL DAY, so why aren’t we washing out butts before we lay down? That’s icky, right?

Cannot Record Current Time and Date on Form

Best Microsoft Access Programmer Portland OR

Hello,

I am new to Access and am required to use it for a project at work. I am currently trying to build a sign in sheet for an office from a form and send it to a table. I have trying to use office support site for access https://support.office.com/en-us/article/store-the-date-and-time-when-a-record-is-modified-0c46efc5-5b43-4751-b3a8-c246505af66d . However, the macro will still not run. I am not sure what is wrong.

As great as it is to be able to buy your CBD at the Gas ‘n’ Sip—and it is, really—you may want your CBD offerings to be produced and presented in a slightly more… Pacific Northwesterly manner. Artisan. Organic. Small batch. Women positive/owned. Innovative. And probably bearded. A place you can go when you want to know more about the products, the producers, and names of the hemp plants grown to produce your CBD.

Friends, I have some goods … Read More

What’s the appeal of Jack Ryan, the Tom Clancy character/brand? “Other than a predilection for glaring at submarines,” Ned Lannamann wrote last year, “does Jack Ryan even have a personality?”

He doesn’t, really, but what Ryan does have is an uncanny, impressively malleable ability to serve as an avatar to let readers and audiences—who are, yes, okay, generally middle-aged dudes—pretend they’re cool/handsome spies, and, depending on the story, cool/handsome spies who are either vaguely right wing or exceedingly … Read More

Freedom to Spend Records Resurrects a Portland Proto-Ambient Classic: Ernest Hood’s Neighborhoods
by Robert Ham

Ernest Hood
Ernest Hood Oregonian 1972 (Jim Vincent)

As a veteran record collector and crate digger, it pains me to think that, at some point in my life, I probably flipped past an original copy of Ernest Hood’s Neighborhoods without giving it a second glance.

The record is unassuming looking. The cover art features a photo of an unnamed street that looks like it was taken in the 1920s, with this subtitle printed underneath: “Memories of Times Past.” Even the description of the … Read More

A Portland man has become the first Oregonian to be convicted under the state’s newly reformed bias crime law—leaving him with a felony charge instead of what would have previously been a misdemeanor.

Don Kirchhoff, 50, was convicted on Friday, October 18, for violently targeting two men because of their sexual orientation and race.

According to the arrest affidavit, two men were sitting on a bench outside the Pearl District’s Lovejoy Bakery on September 1 when Kirchhoff … Read More

Live Review: Dodgr at Roseland
by Jenni Moore

In a recent interview with Dodgr that discussed Red Bull Presents: Dodgr—her then-forthcoming headliner gig at Roseland, and her last show in Portland for a while—the artist said “I hope that when everybody walks into the Roseland on October 19, they feel like it’s not the Roseland. That’s the goal.” And I’ve gotta say, after attending the beautiful, sold-out concert on Saturday, I think Team Dodgr definitely accomplished what they set out to do.
